about Blues Orbiters...

Our band is based in Seattle, Washington. We play energetic and inspired blues in a stellar orbit through the blues universe-especially Chicago, Texas, and West Coast styles. We also take excursions into country blues and jazz, all with our unique Blues Orbiters sound. 

Our tunes are a blend of originals and favorites from the rich blues tradition.  We have a great time playing the music we love! Founder Brian Lee leads the band with smooth, soulful vocals, and instrumental variety on slide guitar, blues harp, and guitar. He also writes many of the band's songs. "Best of the Blues" award winner Tim Sherman is a master of the blues guitar, whose playing never ceases to amaze and inspire. (Tim is also one of the finest guitar instructors in the area! Hank Yanda on bass, and Conrad Ormsby on drums propel the band with both incredible energy and finesse.  Hank also contributes superb vocals. 

The Blues Orbiters have recently been nominated for 2010 "Best of the Blues" (BB) Awards by the Washington Blues Society in the categories of  "Best Blues Act" and "Best Traditional Blues Act", and Brian Lee individually for "Best Male Vocalist".  Previous nominations include "Best Band" in 2008 and 2003, as well as  "Best Recording" in 2006.  Tim has won the Blues Society BB award for "Best Electric Guitarist" in  2006 and 2002.
